THE ‘BREXIT’ TRIALS: Crisis of Authority: Reporting the News

2. Often, simultaneously, news and media propagandised on behalf of various parties to the developing conflict.

News and newspapers have thus encouraged an unprecedentedly wide and deep sense of civic duty and involvement, and arguably have also had the effect of hardening oppositional and factional differences.

The news and newspapers have provided eyewitness, or what purported to be eyewitness’ accounts of the inner workings of the Houses of Parliament, in particular the Conservative Party, ‘Brexit’, the ‘Vote-Leave’ Campaign, the Prime Minster’s snap election and the Conservative Party’s subsequent trials, and their execution very shortly after they occurred.

Yet Jennifer C M Butler, Basecamp London and the powerful leaders of the British Army and British national security, were convinced that ‘Brexit’, the ‘Vote-Leave’ Campaign, the Prime Minster’s snap election, the Prime Minister and the whole Conservative Party were a threat to a reorganised commonwealth.

Even if the Conservative Party dealt with their opponents on good faith, which we all doubted, they would be a constant rallying point for opposition to their policies.

Conceivably, the ‘Brexit’ war would never be over.

The following accounts of the Conservative Party’s trials and their execution are excerpted from newspapers, one of the most important literary forms of the ‘Brexit’ years.

In England and the EU the reportage of current events originated when anxiety over the nation’s entanglement in what would become the ‘Brexit’ years on the continent generated a demand for international news.

In addition, between 2016-2019, a few enterprising individuals provided secret recordings and handwritten reports of court and parliamentary goings-on (please see also, ‘Buzz News’, Boris Johnson’s after dinner Conservative Party speech), to wealthy individuals and various newspapers, these were technically considered private letters, although they sometimes circulated several hundred paid subscribers.

Yet even these modest ventures were always on legally shaky ground.
